Music is life and life is music : 3 chansons/œuvres musicales marquantes personnellement ?
“La vie ne m’apprends rien” – Daniel Balavoine
Je l’écoutais en boucle dans la voiture de ma mère et de mon grand-père. Sûrement l’artiste m’ayant le plus touché musicalement mais aussi par ses principes et ses discours politiquement ambitieux.
Ce titre représente mon premier rapport au rap. Je l’écoutais sur Skyrock et sur mon MP3. Il est politiquement très juste, et le couplet de Tunisiano en tounsi me donne des frissons.
Laylow est sans hésitation mon artiste préféré. Si je l’ai découvert avec Lime, il sort OTO quelques mois après et cela confirme mon amour pour lui. Sans parler du clip de TBMA…
Ticket gagnant : quel a été le moment déterminant pour mettre le pied à l’étrier dans ce milieu ?
Le pied à l’étrier est la confiance et la responsabilité que m’a donné dès le départ Anaïs Lawson, cheffe de Jeune à Jamais, directrice artistique, et mentor depuis mes débuts. Je lui serais à vie reconnaissant.
Recommandation de spectacle/concert à voir absolument pour quelqu’un qui ne sort jamais ?
Les Rêves Party organisées par Yume ! Un public formidable, bienveillant, et des artistes qui mélangent rap, hyperpop, électro ou encore rock !
Qu’est-ce qui vous a pris de vouloir travailler dans la musique?
Je ne pensais pas que travailler dans la musique était possible. De l’extérieur, c’est un milieu très opaque. Je cherchais un stage en production audiovisuelle sur ProfilCulture début 2019, et je tombe sur l’offre de Jeune à Jamais, que je connaissais par l’artiste Wit que je respecte énormément. Je postule et réussi l’entretien grâce à mes compétences en montage vidéo et graphisme. L’aventure débute !
Vous rencontrez des aliens: les 10 titres / œuvres à leur faire découvrir ?
Je leur ferais écouter ce que j’aime en musique, car l’idée serait plus d’être amis avec eux, et non pas de représenter l’humanité :

SRSLY (sérieusement) : les enjeux de votre métier dans les 5 prochaines années ?
D’un point de vue social et politique, je dirais une meilleure intégration des personnes racisées, LGBTQIA+ et des femmes dans les institutions culturelles françaises.
Je souhaiterais aussi que l’indépendance des artistes s’accentuent encore davantage, avec la logique de construire des carrières économiquement viables, et non pas des produits de consommation. En direction artistique, il faut croire en la vision des artistes et la pousser à fond en créant des liens avec d’autres artistes (musiciens, réalisateurs, graphistes…). La détourner est souvent un échec.
Côté rap, j’espère fortement que la nouvelle génération qui s’installe petit à petit (employés de label, relations presses, médias, artistes…) réussissent à créer un beau mouvement renouvelant le milieu et ses pratiques. Cette génération est, de ce que je vois, bienveillante, sensible aux différentes causes sociales et constamment dans l’expérimentation et le partage. J’ai espoir en eux/nous !
Y a-t-il une vie après la musique et à quoi la vôtre ressemblerait-elle?
Je me suis beaucoup posé cette question avec les enjeux climatiques et politiques. Ma vie après la musique serait sûrement l’ouverture d’un café / bar dans ma ville natale Saint-Etienne. Tout est très calme là bas, et je m’y vois bien étant très chauvin !

Merci beaucoup pour cette sélection. C’est un honneur d’en être. Il y a encore beaucoup d’étapes à passer. J’espère continuer à être utile pour tout les gens formidables avec qui je travaille (collègues et artistes). Je suis fier de pouvoir partager ces moments avec eux car ils sont tous très talentueux et me motivent chaque jour un peu plus.

3 songs/musical works that have been important in your life and why ?
“La vie ne m’apprends rien” – Daniel Balavoine
I used to listen to it over and over again in my mother and grandfather’s car. Probably the artist who touched me the most musically but also by his principles and his politically ambitious speeches.
This track represents my first relationship with rap. I listened to it on Skyrock and on my MP3. It is politically very accurate, and the verse of Tunisiano in Tounsi gives me chills.
Laylow is without hesitation my favorite artist. If I discovered him with Lime, he released OTO a few months later and it confirms my love for him. And the videoclip of TBMA …
Golden Ticket moment : when did you get your big break ?
My foot in the door was the trust and responsibility given to me from the start by Anaïs Lawson, Jeune à Jamais’ head, artistic director, and mentor from the beginning. I will be forever grateful to her.
The show/gig you recommend for someone who has rarely ever goes out?
Rêves Party organized by Yume! A great public, caring, and artists who mix rap, hyperpop, electro or rock!
Why on earth did you want to work in music?
I didn’t think working in music was possible. From the outside, it’s a very opaque environment. I was looking for an internship in audiovisual production on ProfilCulture at the beginning of 2019, and I came across the offer of Jeune à Jamais, which I knew through the artist Wit, whom I respect a lot. I applied and passed the interview thanks to my video editing and graphic design skills. The adventure begins!
You meet aliens : which 10 tracks do they need to hear ?
I would make them listen to what I like in music, because the idea would be more to be friends with them, and not to represent humanity :

SRSLY (seriously): what are the stakes of your job within the next 5 years in your opinion ?
From a social and political point of view, I would say a better integration of racialized people, LGBTQIA+ and women in French cultural institutions.
I would also like to see more independence for artists, with the logic of building economically viable careers, not consumer products. In artistic direction, one must believe in the vision of an artist Deviate from it is often a failure.
On the rap side, I strongly hope that the new generation that is gradually settling in (label employees, press relations, media, artists…) will succeed in creating a beautiful movement renewing for the milieu and its practices. This generation is, from what I see, caring, sensitive to different social causes and constantly experimenting and sharing. I have hope in them/us!
Is there life after music, and what would yours be ?
I asked myself this question a lot with the climate and political issues. My life after music would surely be topening a café / bar in my hometown Saint-Etienne. Everything is very quiet there, and I can see myself there because I am very chauvinistic!

Thank you very much for this selection. It is an honor to be part of it. There are still many steps to go. I hope to continue to be useful to all the great people I work with (colleagues and artists). I am proud to be able to share these moments with them because they are all very talented and motivate me a little more every day.
