Music is life and life is music : 3 chansons/œuvres musicales marquantes personnellement ?
C’est l’album qui représente le mieux pour moi l’hiver au Québec, d’où je viens.
« Jerk It Out » – Caesars Palace
J’ai découvert cette chanson dans le jeu SSX On Tour et c’est la première fois que j’ai compris l’impact que pouvait avoir une bonne synchro dans un jeu. Je pense qu’il y a des chansons qui sont faites pour être dans des jeux vidéo et celle-là en est l’exemple parfait.
Ma première vraie histoire d’amour avec le rap.
Ticket gagnant : quel a été le moment déterminant pour mettre le pied à l’étrier dans ce milieu ?
En 2019, après une année difficile, j’ai fait le pari de traverser la France toute seule pour un stage en communication pour des gros festivals. Pendant 6 mois, j’ai voyagé, découvert des centaines de nouveaux artistes, créé du contenu, et surtout rencontré les personnes qui m’ont aidé à atterrir où je suis aujourd’hui.
Recommandation de spectacle/concert à voir absolument pour quelqu’un qui ne sort jamais ?
The Rocky Horror Picture Show – que ça soit au cinéma, au théâtre, ou au cabaret. Il y a un culte autour de cette oeuvre qui ne peut être compris qu’avec l’expérience live, avec toutes ses références. À mes yeux il n’y a aucune autre comédie musicale qui fédère ses fans comme celle-ci.
Qu’est-ce qui vous a pris de vouloir travailler dans la musique?
La musique est un moyen pour moi de reconnecter avec les différentes cultures dans lesquelles j’ai été élevées. On a toujours eu la radio allumée chez moi, et ça a nourri la curiosité qui m’anime dans tout ce que j’entreprends. Je voulais faire partie de ces personnes qui découvrent etpartagent les nouvelles pépites avec le monde, d’où mes études en communication et médiations culturelles.

SRSLY (sérieusement) : les enjeux de votre métier dans les 5 prochaines années ?
“Le temps de cerveau disponible” est une expression qui reste vraie 20 ans après. Tous les produits culturels essayent de grignoter une part de l’attention des fans, et c’est de plus en plus difficile pour les indés de se couper une part du gâteau. La musique et le gaming se retrouvent encore trop souvent désynchronisés plutôt que vrais alliés dans ce combat, même s’il existe beaucoup de synergies entre les deux. La construction de ces synergies peut s’avérer compliquée car les droits d’auteur, droits d’image et la répartition des revenus ne sont pas traités de la même manière dans chaque industrie.
En France, il y a du travail entamé qui vise à fluidifier ces conversations, et qui a posé les bases des contrats sains. Des deux côtés, on prend conscience des manières de fonctionner qui peuvent s’avantager l’un et l’autre. Je pense qu’on est sur la bonne voie pour construire de plus en plus de collaborations solides et qui font sens. Il reste juste à mener ce combat à l’international.
Y a-t-il une vie après la musique et à quoi la vôtre ressemblerait-elle ?
Si je devais quitter la culture de manière générale, je pense que je me tournerais vers la gastronomie (même si certains diraient que c’est aussi une forme de culture). Je pense que je ferais une bonne fromagère.

« Jerk It Out » – Caesars Palace
I discovered this song in the game SSX On Tour and it’s the first time I really understood the impact of a good song in a video game. I think some songs are meant to be in video games and this one is the perfect example.
My first real love story with rap music.
Golden Ticket moment : when did you get your big break ?
In 2019, after a difficult year, I made the choice to move across the country for an internship in communications for major french festivals. During 6 months, I travelled, discovered hundreds of new artists, made a lot of content, and met the people who helped pave the way to where I am today.
The show/gig you recommend for someone who has rarely ever goes out ?
The Rocky Horror Picture Show – in the theatre, in a cabaret, or at the movies. There’s a cult following around this show that can only be understood with the full live experience, with all of its references. In my eyes, there’s no other musical that brings its fans together like this one.
Why on earth did you want to work in music ?
Music is a way to reconnect with the different cultures in which I was raised. We always had the radio on at home, and it nourished the curiosity which drives me every day in everything that I do. I wanted to be part of the people who discover and share new music and artists with the world, which led to my studies in communications and cultural mediation.

SRSLY (seriously): what are the stakes of your job within the next 5 years in your opinion ?
“Available human brain time” is a phrase which remains true 20 years after it was first pronounced. All cultural products are trying to gain just a bit of attention from their fans, and it’s getting harder and harder for independent structures to get their time in the limelight. Music and gaming are still too often unsynchronized in this fight, even if we’ve been seeing more and more synergies created between the two. The construction of these synergies can be tricky because the legal rights (music, image, etc) have different standards in different industries. In France, there’s already been a lot of work done to mediate these discussions, and we’ve built the basis for healthy contracts. On both sides, we’re starting to discover ways of working which can advantage everyone. I think we’re on the right path to build more and more solid collaborations which make sense. The fight to come remains at an international level.
Is there life after music, and what would yours be ?
If I had to work in anything but the creative industries, I think I’d look into food (although it’s another form of culture). I think I’d open my own little cheese shop.
